This coming Saturday is St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th. Whether you are Irish or not, most people consider or do wear something green on St. Patrick’s Day for fun. Either green clothing of some sort or green jewelry. You may see many people wearing Peridot and Emerald jewelry since they are both green… the Peridot being a light green and the Emerald being a much deeper hue of green.
Some interesting facts about Peridot – This bright yellow-green to green gemstone has caught the fancy of people for thousands of years. Some historians even suspect that at least some of the “emeralds” worn by Cleopatra were actually Peridot. Much of its recent popularity can be explained by its currently being recognized as the birthstone for the month of August, people wear the stone because it is supposed to bring the wearer success, peace, and good luck.
Some interesting facts about Emeralds – Emeralds are fascinating gemstones. They have the most beautiful, most intense and most radiant green that can possibly be imagined: emerald green. The green of the emerald is the color of life and of the springtime, which comes round again and again. But it has also, for centuries, been the color of beauty and of constant love. In ancient Rome, green was the color of Venus, the goddess of beauty and love.
