Jewelry and Style Trends for Spring – Summer 2012

Continuing from my blog post yesterday, the Spring and Summer trends for 2012 are based on observations that I have seen showing up in stores, catalogs, and research online from looking at runway photos… Runway designers seem to be pulling some vintage styles from the 80’s, and mixing them in with more modern look. The colors and fabrics you will see, are sorbet pastels, vibrant geometric shapes, large bold florals, and a splash of neon.

This Spring, jewelry that is in style, is all about making a bold statement. Deep orange (Tangerine Tango) is the color this year and some are pairing it with blue, or color blocking it with other vibrant colors. Whether it’s a necklace, a bracelet or a fun and playful ring… from beads, to bold stones, to pieces, the one thing will be consistent: it must be big, bold, or colorful.

There will also be lots of emphasis on naturals and basic colors that never seem to go out of style. Also materials such as stones and wood are big in jewelry. You will also see some tribal styles this spring and summer.

Bracelets – Wear multiples and stack them. Just wearing one? Make it big and bold to make a statement.

Pendants, Charms and Stones – Is one better than layering multiples together? You will see necklaces that look like 3 in 1. Charms will be dangling from necklaces and the chains layered in-between one another. You will also see bright and somewhat larger charm bracelets, and necklaces this season. Natural to bright – apparently anything goes this spring. The bright colors of nature, think of a deep sunset (Tangerine Tango), soft seascape (Cockatoo Green), a pebbled beach (Driftwood Gray), or a pink Hydrangea (Sweet Lilac Pink).

With all this color this season, what about silver? Metals will never go out of style… In metals think sleek and modern designs. You will see some mixed with natural materials like wood and beads mixed with metals. This season the metal pieces have taken a more sleek look.

Bold and Bright Fashion rings – You will be seeing a lot of funky rings in a multitude of colors that will make a statement! Wear an over-sized and massive ring for a pop of color when you go to a Cocktail Party or out with friends.

Will Silver or Gold be more popular this season? Silver is as always in! Through this Spring and Summer, gold will be making a come back. You will see the two metals mixed, to create some wonderful two-tone jewelry pieces.

So the trends this Spring will be dizzying and dazzling colors and prints, or colorful over-sized pieces that invoke nature in either their shape or color. What do you think? Will you be wearing any of the trends this season?
