At the beginning of the month we talked about the wonderful birthstone, the Sapphire! The trend right now is using an alternative gemstone for wedding rings, such as sapphires, emeralds, or rubies. What’s so wonderful about Sapphire engagement rings, is that they come in a variety of shades, from light to dark… even pinks and reds! But the most prized color of course, is the most widely known Sapphire, the rich, deep blue shade.
Some celebrities that have Sapphire and diamond rings are Liz Hurley, Penelope Cruz, Victoria Beckham, and of course the famous Princess Diana ring, worn by Kate Middleton.
The Sapphire is second to the Diamond on the hardness scale, making it extremely durable for jewelry! The Sapphire represents sincerity and faithfulness. Also, if you wear a Sapphire on Fridays, you are said to be lucky in love!

This is interesting! – The striking deep blue of a quality sapphire is reminiscent of a cloudless night sky. Ancient civilizations believed that the world was set upon an enormous sapphire, which painted the sky blue with its reflection. This legend, as well as the belief that the ten commandments were inscribed upon tablets made of sapphire, gives September’s birthstone a royal place among gemstones. [Source: About:Birthstones]
